Jackalope AV System Instructions

Troubleshooting
SF Logo
Touchscreens Frozen or Not Working
  • Pull the touchscreen straight out of its wall mount.
  • Disconnect the data cable (usually Ethernet/PoE) from the back of the panel for 5-10 seconds.
  • Re-plug the cable securely and slide the panel back into its wall mount. It should reboot.
  • If issues persist, contact Jackalope Management or Technical Support.
Spotify Dropping Out

Spotify dropping out could be due to the venue’s Spotify account being used simultaneously elsewhere (potentially outside the hotel).

The venue’s Spotify account is for exclusive use within the venue.

If this is suspected, Management should change the Spotify account password immediately.

(Specific WiiM troubleshooting is listed under “Music Sources & General Guides” -> “WiiM Audio Streamer”)

  • Restaurant (main dining area)
  • Alfresco (outside area)
  • Halls

  • Toilet

Important Note on Halls & Toilets: The Halls and Toilets are on the same audio zone. This means they will always play the same music, and their volumes are linked (cannot be changed independently of each other, only as a single combined zone).

Selecting Audio Source & Controlling Volume for Each Zone
Restaurant Main Zone

Select Input: On the touchpanel, navigate to the Restaurant zone controls. Select the desired audio source (e.g., Sonos Player 1/2/3, WiiM, Waiter input) from the available inputs.

Using Music Sources (Sonos & WiiM via Restaurant Touchscreen)

For Sonos (Players 1, 2, 3):

  • After selecting a Sonos Player (1, 2, or 3) as the input for a zone on the touchpanel:
  • Use the reception mobile (or any phone on Jackalope AV Wi-Fi) with the Sonos app. (Device must be connected to Wi-Fi, see Wi-Fi: Connecting to Wi-Fi)
  • In the Sonos app, select the same Player (1, 2, or 3) to control its music. (Refer to “Music Sources & General Guides” for more on Player selection)

For WiiM (Audio Streamer):

  • After selecting the WiiM as the input for a zone on the touchpanel:
  • Connect your streaming device to Jackalope AV Wi-Fi. (See Wi-Fi: Connecting to Wi-Fi)
  • Stream via AirPlay/Chromecast to the single “WiiM” device.

Note: There is only one WiiM device for the venue, so only one person can stream to it at a time.

“Player inactive” or similar message indicates the selected source is currently off or not sending signal.

Using Music Sources (Sonos & WiiM via Bar Panel)

For Sonos (Players 1, 2, 3):

  • After selecting a Sonos Player (1, 2, or 3) as the input for the Bar on the touchpanel:
  • Use the reception mobile (or any phone on Jackalope AV Wi-Fi) with the Sonos app. (Device must be connected to Wi-Fi, see Wi-Fi: Connecting to Wi-Fi)

Sonos Players (1, 2, 3) – General App Control

Access: Use the Sonos app on a device connected to the Jackalope AV Wi-Fi network (e.g., the reception mobile or your own device). (See Wi-Fi: Connecting to Wi-Fi)

Understanding Sonos Players: The system has three independent Sonos audio sources, named Player 1, Player 2, and Player 3. These players are not permanently linked to any specific room or zone.

How it Works:

  1. Touchpanel Assignment: First, use the Crestron touchpanel in your desired room/area (e.g., Function Room, Restaurant Zone) to select which Sonos Player (1, 2, or 3) you want to listen to in that specific location.
  2. Sonos App Control: Next, open the Sonos app. In the app, find and select the exact same Player (Player 1, Player 2, or Player 3) that you just assigned via the touchpanel.
  3. You can now choose music, play/pause, etc., for that selected Player within the Sonos app. The music from that Player will be audible in the room/zone you routed it to.

Important Note: Do not rename Player 1, Player 2, or Player 3 in the Sonos app to reflect a room name, as their routing is flexible and managed by the touchpanels.

Content: Spotify and other services might be pre-loaded on the Sonos system for easy selection within each Player. No separate app login is usually required for these pre-selected streams.

WiiM Audio Streamer (General)
Connection & Use (for any zone selecting WiiM as input)

Note: There is only one WiiM device for the venue, so only one person can stream to it at a time.

  • Ensure your streaming device (phone, tablet, computer) is connected to the Jackalope AV Wi-Fi network. (See Wi-Fi: Connecting to Wi-Fi)
  • The single WiiM device supports streaming via AirPlay 2 (for Apple devices) and Chromecast Audio (for Android/Google devices & Chrome browser).
  • On the touchpanel for your desired zone: Select the WiiM device from the audio input list.

In your music/audio app:

  • Open your preferred app (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music).
  • Look for the Cast icon Cast icon or AirPlay icon AirPlay icon in the app.
  • Select the “WiiM” device to stream to it. The audio will play in the zone where you selected WiiM as the input on the touchpanel.

Volume Control: Primarily managed via the Crestron touchpanel for the selected zone. Initial volume can often be set on your streaming device, but the touchpanel provides the main control.

Troubleshooting WiiM
  • Not Discoverable: Ensure the WiiM device is powered on (check for its status light). Verify your streaming device is on the Jackalope AV Wi-Fi.
  • Connection Drops: Check Wi-Fi signal strength. Restart your streaming app and the WiiM device (unplug power for 10 seconds).
  • No Audio: Confirm the WiiM device is selected as the input on the touchpanel for your desired zone. Check volume on your streaming device AND the Crestron touchpanel for that zone.

Persistent Issues: For persistent issues, refer to the main “Troubleshooting” section or contact technical support.

Touchpanel Menus Schema

This document (Jackalope AV Instructions) serves as a general guide to the menu structure and available options on the Crestron touchpanels. The exact layout and features may vary slightly based on ongoing system updates.

Developer/Admin Mode

Access to developer settings, engineering menus, or administrative modes on the Crestron touchpanels and backend system is restricted to authorized personnel (e.g., Traction IT, SFPCTV, or designated Crestron programmers).

Unauthorized attempts to access these modes may disrupt system operation.

Network & Firmware

All Crestron AV equipment, Sonos devices, and WiiM streamers operate on a dedicated AV network infrastructure (Jackalope AV Wi-Fi and wired connections).

Firmware updates for Crestron devices, Sonos, and WiiM are managed by authorized technicians to ensure system stability and compatibility.

For network connectivity issues related to AV equipment or inquiries about firmware versions, please contact Traction IT or Jackalope Management to coordinate support.
