NBN

The property has been upgraded from FTTC (Fibre to the Curb) to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises).

NBN Upgrade Complete

Dedicated fibre connection directly to the premises — significantly faster and more reliable than the old copper FTTC technology.

What Was Done

Before After
FTTC (copper) running via neighbour’s connection FTTP with dedicated fibre direct to premises

Infrastructure work included:

  • New conduit run from boundary to side of house
  • Electrician ran conduit from side of house to comms cupboard in garage loft
  • NBN dug up footpath and ran fibre to property
  • Multiple coordination visits with NBN technicians

Comms Cabinet

The main equipment hub is located in the garage loft area.

Equipment Installed

NBN NTD
Bosch alarm panel enclosure
Router
Wi-Fi access points
4G backup module

All security and network cabling terminates here. During the renovation, data and security cabling was run throughout the house by the electrician based on our wiring plan.

Foxtel

Foxtel has been set up in the living room and office.

Account Note

A few years ago Shanon consolidated the Foxtel accounts between Hawthorn and Blairgowrie into a single account — significantly cheaper. Since Foxtel updated to streaming (not satellite), this made sense. All boxes are on a single account but split between the two houses.

Living Room

Foxtel box connected
Apple TV
Soundbar (ARC working)

Universal remote programmed to control TV and Foxtel. Foxtel box configured for volume control via remote.

Office

Foxtel box connected
Blu-ray HDMI routed

Foxtel configured with same universal remote on older TV. Foxtel box hidden behind swivel mount.

Free-to-Air TV

Living room — FTA working via booster
Office — may require follow-up

Coax signal was weak. Antenna booster installed in living room resolved FTA and Foxtel reception issues.
